Researching with World Bank Tools

The World Bank collects extensive data and information and uses a wide range of tools to disseminate this knowledge. Here are the key tools available to you on the World Bank web site.

 Digital Library
This site from the Office of the Publisher provides full text publications or publications summaries of major World Bank publications. The list is arranged by publication title, but there is a search function available if you need it.

 Journals
Visit this site for links to on-line journals and annotated tables of contents of printed journals produced by the World Bank.

 Policy Research Working Papers
The Policy Research Working Paper Series gives you access to works in progress to encourage the exchange of ideas about development issues. An objective of the series is to get the findings out quickly, even if the presentations are less than fully polished. Many of these papers are technical, but the summaries are helpful in communicating key information.

 Other Periodicals
Here you will find a wide range publications written for a variety of audiences. Since everything listed on this site is published periodically, this is a good place to look for current information. Listings of past issues are also available for these publications (although they do not have subject indexes).

 Other Resources
Another place to visit for a wide range of research tools, this site has both internal and external links.
