Saturday morning, the train left very early to Rennes, the city
in which we visited. Rennes is the capital of Bratagne. Upon arrival
there, Mrs. Renne and her husband Mr. Micheal greeted us.
After dropping off our bags, we began the visit. We started on the
seaside, wherein we stopped and ate a seafood restaurant. Here we
had traditional.(scoici) also named Moules. After that we went to
Saint Michel Mountain.
The trip lasted an hour and when we got there we saw a holly medieval
construction dedicated to the Saint Michael in 708. The monks had
worked very hard to build that great construction. The Saint Michel
Mountain resisted England in the "100 Years War," which
made the mountain a symbolical place for France.
This gigantic monastery was declared an historic monument in 1874
after it was restored. It has three floors with spacious rooms that
served for places to pray and halls were they had their lunches.
This construction shows a medieval architequere vision with different
characteristics of the XVI Century gothic.
Both Saint Michel Mountain and the Gargan Mountain are a couple
of the few places dedicated to Saint Michel. He is the person who
stands at the gates of Heaven and who is chooses who are the ones
who have done good things in their lives and who have not.
Being far from the land, we could get there by only a single way
of transport. In the beginning of the XX Century, the tourists could
come here by trains. If you ever go there you will see the breath
taking views.
Based on this, the tourism has developed very much. There are a
lot of stores, restaurants and bars. Every year many tourists visit
this amazing place. After this unforgettable day, we returned home
to rest, because the next day we would start again a new day of
meeting new and interesting people and places.
