Day 8 Rennes - Paris, Paris

We departed Rennes by TGV which represents the symbol of the French railroad network ,in two hours we ware in Gare de Montparnasse in Paris. We ware a little frightened because we had to carry our heavy luggage through endless subterranean tunnels up to the 12 metro line. Finally after almost an hour we arrived at the Aloha Hostel, which was situated in Borronee Street. Not really a hotel but sort like a student shelter with 4 beds and with a bathroom placed at the end the lobby but the hostel was perfectly placed in the hearth of Paris and all at a reasonable price, thankful that now we had where to leave our luggage we started our walk in Paris.
The first part of our walk took us to see :L`etoile Arc de Triomphe - Avenue des Champs Elysees - Place de la Concorde - Jardin de Tuileries - Louvre. The first stone of the Arch of Triumph was first laid in 1806 by Napoleon I himself, the monument was completed in 1836 under the reign of Louise Philipe, the monument stands 50 m high and has a width of 45 and also shelters since 1921 the body of the unknown soldier after this we walked further down the Champ Elysees Avenue towards the Louvre Museum considered by many the most beautiful avenue in the world. Out of the many stores that are situated along side the avenue we entered a Peugeot showroom ,and also one of the FNAC store chain where anyone could find anything he wants if that refers to music or movies. We took some photo`s in the Place de la Concorde square after which we crossed the Tuilleries gardens then we admired the Louvre Museum and the moder Pyramid that stands in-front of it unfortunately our stay was too short to have enough time to visit the museum plus we would have had to wait in a line that stretched 50 m.
We crossed the Seine over the Quai de l`Louvre one of the places where the "les bouchiniste de la Seine" present their books, postcards and pictures and which attract many people to this area. After that we took a ferryboat ride along the Seine, for a whole hour we admired the impressive structures which stood on both sides of the river and the island l`Ile de la Cite ,later we walked towards the island of the city(l`Ile de la Cite) where we saw "La Conciergirie and Notre Dame du Paris"
It was getting dark and so we adventured on the streets of the latin neighborhood after which we took the bus to the Montmartre neighborhood ,it was very hard to reach because the traffic was terrible so we decided to try the metro instead up to Lafayette Galleries ,every street was beautifully decorated with colored lights and every where was light.
We stopped the see the Moulin Rouge Avenue and also visited "Place Pigalle" on our way to the Basilique de Sacre Coeur. The end of the church ceremonial gave us a chance to meditate and relax before leaving again.
Then the metro took us to the most moder ward of Paris ,La Defence , the exit of the metro station is situated exactly under the Great Arch of Defense ,La Defane the Paris business ward it`s construction begun in the late 60 and the Great Arch of Defense was completed in 1989. The square of the Arch that could hold Notre Dame houses showrooms and offices.
We ended our evening in Paris after a meal in a Greek Restaurant in the latin ward, and a final walk on the Saint Michelle avenue.
Our only regret is that we didn`t have enough time to visit the George Pompidon Centre in Beaubourg which was hosting a temporary Brancusi exposition, but for only half a day it was enough.
