Although I had seen many documentaries
about the beauty of France and the coastal region of Brittany I had
never been prepared for what was to come.
France is one of the few places/countries in which you can see it
all , no matter if you are talking about plains, sea or mountains.
Visiting Brittany I had the chance to see some of those things that
give this place a special look and which even suggest it`s name Finistère
(at the end ot the world).
Traveling through Brittany and it`s small fisherman towns the first
thing I noticed was the architecture of the houses which resembles
that of a castle thick walls and big windows some even with bars,
,black roofs and chimneys located on the edge of the walls , most
houses resembled each other and thus adding to the splendor of the
already beautiful scenery, along the houses one of the most common
thins in Brittany are the lovely Castles such as Branfere ,Combourg
from Ille-et-Vilaine or even the one located near the Breast Harbor.
In Quimper we had the pleasure of visiting some of the small fisherman
towns located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean such as Concarneau
, Pont-Aven and Guivinec which have a special style which I would
associate with the Italian coastal cities, the small/narrow beaches
without trash(most importantly) and with glittering sand represent
every traveler`s perfect destination.
During our stay in Brest we visited the north-western region of the
rocky coast where one of the most common things/buildings are Light
Houses which are often covered by giant waves creating and impressive/picturesque
view and which seem to be a national pride as I have seen from most
of the post cards and also a sort of landmark/symbol of the region.
Also in the northern region all sorts of keeps/barracks, cannons and
also some monuments can be seen that stand testimony to the bravery
of all those that gave their lives to protect these beautiful land
against the germans in the 2 World Wars.
During our stay in Rene we also had the chance to visit one of the
well known places on earth and one of the most beautiful in all of
Brittany namely "Le Mont Du Saint Michel" which in the past
was a famous pilgrimage site but first we visited a small fishing
town called Pointe du Grouin from where we had our first look at the
long awaited "Mont Saint Michel" this is also where we first
saw the flow/reflux and ebb/reflux which is so hard to describe how
it feels to see the immensity of the sea gone in just a few hours.
The view that can be seen from the top of the Saint Michel mountain
in indescribable because as you climb/wall near the top and see the
immensity of sand or water surrounding the castle/abbey you get an
indescribable feeling of joy and admiration for those who had built
these magnificent construction which can probably only be shadowed
by the great pyramids (the Giza plateau).
But Brittany has not only beautiful coasts but also the inland landscape
is very beautiful being characterized by small hills covered by small
forests.
Between the countless forms of landscape of France the mountains are
one of the most important and we had the chance to see one of the
most important mountains in France namely the peak Mont-Blanc which
is situated at the franco-italian boarder and which has a top height
of
4800 m.
In conclusion France/Brittany is a very beautiful country which if
would have the chance I would visit it again anytime and I suggest
the same for you. The sceneries in Brittany are very beautiful ,incredible
,and picturesque and much more then simple words can describe so I
will let you admire the beautiful photos.
