Day 4:Doarnounez ,Guilvinec |

|
The third day in Quimper was destinated
to the trips. With Christian and Albert, two English teachers from
Le Likes high school, the delegation from Lecce, Italy and from Eforie,
a group of students from the European classes from the school we went
by a bus to Douarnenez, one of the most important harbors for fishing
sardines from France.
First stop to fishtinned factory(cannery) where we meet the woman
who was responsable with the relantions with public, a woman full
of ideas and still sever. We disguise ourselves because of the rules
with some mantles and strange hats and we start our visit with the
section where the fish was cleaned. A very bad smell makes us twist,
but our guide said that our behaviour could ofend the women who were
working there. We wached them carefully, their moves are very quick
but their faces look very tired. As we were visiting the factory we
sow the packing, frying areas and our respect for this simple fish
factory was growing.
Our guide told us few information about the politique of the chief:
32 work hours in the Winter and 39 hours in the Summer, good salaries
and good work conditions for almost 300 workers. We make a short walk
thru the harbor for the turism. Even if it was very cold the port
was full of people. After our lunch, the sun was smiling to us, the
gulf was much more populated. Our next stop the "Chasse Maree"center
which will selebrate its 20 years of activity in 2002. The three main
principles which inspired this activity are: the return to that passionated
marine life, the quality of litterature and painting, developing a
rich marine culture based on reasearch and knowledge.
The building has three center: the "Chasse Maree" dedicated
to the marine culture, Armen publication dedicated to Bretagne in
an English version too, "Marine life". The magasines are
read by many people in all over the world, espeacilly subscritions
almost 1500 people for every publication. For us was very impresioning
the library and arhive, the editor's passion and the hard work made
by them, every page is read 7 times. Our guide was Andre Linard, one
of few editors of "Chasse Maree" and Armen too, most of
the editors are colaborating with other publications. We left from
the redaction with a great feeling of respect for those people who
were working so hard to keep the culture of that region.
Our last destination of our trip was Guilvinec, the first French harbor
of artizanal fish where recently a sea fish center was made. In a
very modern ambiance having all the tehnical and artistical equipments
we descovered a new world, the ocean world, a vision of a job full
of riscs. Photos of the sea, articles from the trips, films. It's
late, the boats are returning an incredible view: the sun was setting.
We didn't leave until we sow the fishermen selling their fish, activity
named "la Crill", a selling in the real sense of the word.
Soon this activity will be done with the help of the computer, it's
still working the signs language. This show of selling was extraordinary,
the fishermen were waiting to sell their product.
The dark was coming, we left on a hurry to Quimper, where Lionel Poiredeau,
our host was waiting us. Us, the teachers(the Romanians and the Italians)
were leaving by Lionel's car to his friend Annik. We met many people
who knew a lot things about Romania, the maths teacher from Quimper.
We felt like home due to Maria Tanase music, the jokes and all kind
of suvenires from trips. But we had something still to do, to see
one of the famous "Creperies" from Quimper, to appreciate
the bretagne specialities made in Finistere.
We tasted from each of them: with bacon, eggs, mushrooms, we drink
cidru and we laugh a lot hearing all kinds of stories told by them
about the festival Mardi Gras from Douarnenez, a week in February.
After a great evening which cidru, pancakes and laughing we left to
our hotel because the next day we leave from Quimper.
