| Chart 1. GNP, Population, and GNP per Capita, 1995
GNP per capita is a countrys gross national product divided by its population. Low- and middle-income countries produce about 20 percent of the worlds goods and services, but have more than 80 percent of the worlds population. As a result, people in these countries earn a smaller share of the worlds income than people in high-income countries. |
