Background Information
Wheeling Creek is a tributary of the Ohio River and drains a portion of the northern panhandle of West Virginia and the southwestern area of Pennsylvania. The total drainage basin area is approximately 76,557 km2 (29.559 mi2), and consists of forested, agricultural, urban, and industrial landforms. The U.S. Geological Survey provides the information for topographic maps as digital files called Digital Line Graphs and Digital Elevation Models. These can be superimposed on each other to produce a digitally generated scene of an area using a Geographic Information System.
