"" Day 2 Quimper: Coastal Cities Comenius""
    Day 2: Quimper

Monday 17th of December the first day of our visit in Quimper. We woke up at 7 am. so we could go to school where the reception of the delegations was to take place.
At 8:15 we left our hotel and headed towards the school where we ware welcomed by the school`s principal and some teachers, now we learned where we would stay for the next 4 days.
A few minutes later we meet the Italian delegation formed by Antonio, french teacher, Antonela English teacher and Cristina and Paula. At 9 am we took an tour of the school which was very big compared with our own although we should not forget that in this school 3000 students learn, we saw a workshop which was very interesting and resembled more to a factory we also saw a small demonstration on how the machines work and the final products.
At 10 am me and Stela attended a history class which was in French of course, I mentioned this because here they also have history classes in english, during the class we noticed some differences for example the students didn`t stand up when the teacher entered, the class was very interesting although we didn`t understand to much, we watched an video tape, listened to some music, the teacher also used some slides and spoke to the class about the eradication of slavery in France. Although we though the class was very interesting the students didn`t seem to share our opinion .
At 11 am we ware invited by Trevor Stent who was my host during our visit along with the Italian students to participate in an English class. We talked with 15-16 year old students so had the chance to find out more about the way of life of both Romanians and Italians.
At 12 am we ware invited to eat at the students cafeteria ,waiting to get in I noticed something unusual none of the students ware pushing each other as I had anticipated.
As food we received chips, toasted beef meat and also at your choice there was bananas, kiwi or Danone yogurt, the food was delicious except for the juice that was actually colored water, after eating I asked a few students what they think about the food since I saw that they didn`t eat their meat and the answer was "No"!!!!.
After eating the students had an 1 hour break so we decided to see a little more of the school so we had the chance to see the smoking yard which was as big as are own yard and which was absolutely filled with students during breaks ,we also saw the school`s library which is very modern and well equipped and also very big.
At 2 o`clock we had the chance to visit the town for the first time, to my surprise most of the shops ware closed as it was Monday. But we did enter a few shops which I think ware a bit smaller then our own but they ware very traditional and nice.
We also visited the St. Corentin Cathedral situated near the Odet River a masterpiece of gothic architecture I especially liked the stained glass which portrayed biblical moments.
Although the city has 60.000 inhabitants it is very big because most buildings have only 2 floors.
Later in the afternoon at about 6 pm I hat the chance to talk with my hosts Mr. sn Mrs. Stent and their two children Simon and Kate which with I got along very well.
