The Leaders Achieving Notable Education, LANE, Premedical Society held its annual induction ceremony and reception on Sunday January 21, 2001. The venue was the MSU Kellogg Center.

Highlights of the occasion included a welcome address by Daniel Barba, LANE member; inaugural address by Wanda Lipscom, Ph.D., Director of the Center of Excellence and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Services; and remarks by Christine Shafer, M.D., Assistant Dean for Admissions at College of Human Medicine.

The induction ceremony was led by an exhortation session or "Book of Knowledge" by Ihuoma Eneli, M.D., Assistant Professor, followed by "Beacon of Wisdom," by Catherine Flaga, MS., Assistant Director, Undergraduate Student Affairs, College of Natural Science; and "Symbols of Service," by Kenya Sekoni, M.D. Dr. Christine Shafer administered the Society Oath. Mistress of Ceremony was Karen Williams, Ph.D., Coordinator of Center of Excellence and Assistant Professor for Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The LANE Premedical Society is sponsored by the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine through the Center of Excellence in Minority Medical Education and Health.
