The Hulemose Lake.

The water in the Hulemose Lake contains a lot of nitrate, which comes from a leach from the fields near the inlets which feats the lake, and also from the military exercise area. Because of the rain there have been a leach of nitrate from the soil to the lake. This supplied nitrate has now increased the concentration of nitrate more than normal. The extra nitrate from the agriculture causes a big increase of algae. These algae can cause deoxygenating when they die and have to be broken down at the bottom of the lake.

The hardness of the water

The possible causes for the variation of the hardness of the water could be the difference between the local waterworks. The different effectiveness of the waterworks, concerning filtration and cleansing of the water. Another cause could be that some houses have installed private chalk filters. The circumstances of the soil conditions under the waterworks have a big influence of the results; For example if the soil contains a lot of chalk, it causes the hardness of the water to increase.

The average of the hardness of the water in different communities, but in the same area, is about 23,40 °dH
