April 1998 Exploring the Environment (ETE) was awarded StudyWeb's
Award for Academic Excellence. StudyWeb selects only the finest educational resources on
the Internet for this prestigious award.
January 1998 ETE was named an outstanding education-related site on the Web
by the Education Index. The Education Index selects sites that offer interesting,
well-organized, reliable information. The ETE site is linked to the Index's Environmental
Science and Education sections.
December 1997 ETE was selected to be the Alchemist's WebPick as an outstanding
Chemistry/Science place to visit. The Alchemist is the webzine of ChemWeb--the World Wide
Club for the Chemical Community.
November 1997 ETE was honored by the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse (ENC)
with the Digital Dozen Award. Each month ENC searches the Internet for new and fascinating
resources in math and science, and highlights 13 outstanding sites.
October 1997 ETE received the Odysseus Award for promoting classical subject
matter online.
August 1997 ETE was selected to appear in the scientific metadirectory
SciCentral, based on ETE's compilation of specialized Web resources. SciCentral's mission
is to identify and link to the very best directories pertaining to specific science and
engineering research disciplines. SciCentral caters primarily to a professional audience.
Less than 7% of the sites SciCentral reviews are retained for indexing on their site.
December 1996 ETE was honored to be chosen site of the week by the Geological
Survey of Canada (Atlantic). The award is given for excellence in earth sciences on the
Web.
June 1996 ETE was awarded LookSmart's Editor's Choice Award. ETE was one
of 110,000 sites selected out of over a million reviewed by the Reader's Digest
subsidiary. The award reflects LookSmart's high standards for editorial excellence.
March 1996 ETE recieved the Blue Web'n Award from Pacific Bell. The award
is given to the most useful educational sites on the Web.
