Financial Assistance
Teaching and research
assistantships and fellowships are available to outstanding students on a
competitive basis. A few assistantships are awarded by the American Studies
Program but assigned to other university departments. Additional assistantships
are available directly from other departments on campus. The deadline
for most assistantships in the College of Arts and Letters is mid-February
of each year. A nine credit tuition waiver per semester accompanies
both quarter-time and half-time assistantships. University fellowships vary
in type and size and specific information is available upon request from
the Office of Scholarships and Admissions. Fellowship application deadlines
vary throughout the course of the year. All financial assistance offers
are made at the same time as an offer of admission.
